198
Interview with
F/O Arthur Bryant MID, RAFVR

Arthur was never happy about being interviewed, on several occasions he flatly refused approaches from researchers and documentary film makers wanting his memories of 198 Squadron RAF. However, his nephew, John, managed to get an hour long taped interview with him on the 15th May 2008 from which this extract is taken.

Arthur, who was the founder of "The Association of 198 Squadron RAF Pilots & Ground Crews", died twelve months later on the 26th of May 2009.

Joining the RAF in 1941 he had previousely served with 609 (West Riding) Squadron RAF before flying with 198 from June 1944 until its disbandment in September 1945. Altogether he carried out some one hundred and fifty operational sorties flying the Hawker Typhoon before the war's end.
