198
AUDIO & VIDEO
The sad thing about the three recordings and one video given on the left of this page is that they just about represent all that exists of the recollections of 198 Squadron RAF veterans in sound and/or vision. During the late 1980s and early 90s several radio broadcasts were made by a few veterans but these, despite attempts to find copies of them, appear to have been lost or destroyed. The only other interviews known to exist are from a filmed 1985 ITN News report on the burial of Flt/Sgt Reginald Thursby RAFVR which contains appearances and comments from Sqdn/Ldr Yves Ezanno, Free French, and Flt/Lt Denis Sweeting RAFVR.
By the time this sorry state of affairs had been brought to our attention it was, except for a couple of occasions, already too late to do much about it and oddly most surviving Squadron veterans in later years when approached by documentary film makers and/or were asked to have their recollections tape recorded declined to do so.
All three audio interviews are extracted from their longer original length while the video "Finding The Few" is shown in its entirety. Please note that the audio recordings are in MP3 sound and that the video is in WMV format which in both cases require "Windows Media Player" to be heard and/or seen, should the "player" not already be installed on your computer.
